When Marley and Alex visited The Station House, they fell in love with our warm, welcoming atmosphere and enchanting outdoor ceremony space!

"The walk through the wooded area leading to the ceremony location was lined with warm lights and candles, which creates an absolutely beautiful and magical feeling. Additionally, the entire staff of The Station House Hotel were leagues above the rest in both personality and passion." - Marley & Alex

"We really loved the outdoor setting, especially with flowers and greenery all around. Additionally, the personal touches were very important to us: the favours, table numbers, and even the seating charts were all done by us to make sure our personalities, our love, and our lives together were really showcased."

A Love Story That Crossed Oceans

Marley, a vibrant American, and Alex, a Kilkenny native, first crossed paths in March 2018 in the rural village of Cheongyang, South Korea. Alex had just arrived as a new English instructor and was immediately charmed by Marley, the quirky, pink-haired girl with a passion for K-pop. What started as a friendship filled with teasing and flirting soon blossomed into something more. Their first dinner date featured Marley’s favorite dish—French toast—and an evening spent binge-watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Their connection was undeniable, and they decided to make it official the very next day!

Alex found the perfect moment to propose during a family outing to an escape room in Marley’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"Marley and I both love escape rooms, something that Marley introduced me to even before we started dating. During our victory photo for escaping from “Tomb Explorer” at Escape Room Pittsburgh with Marley’s mom and sister, I got down on one knee, much to her surprise!"

Bridal Preparations in a Historic Suite

Marley and her bridal party began their day in the Station Master Suite, once home to the station master when the hotel was a bustling railway junction in 1862. As they got ready, they indulged in afternoon tea, complete with gourmet treats and sparkling drinks—a relaxing and elegant way to kick off the celebrations!

Marley’s wedding day look was beautifully paired with a bouquet of pastel-colored blooms. The delicate flowers blended with the whimsical forest setting while contrasting with the bridesmaids’ emerald green dresses. Adding a personal touch, Marley included a charm in her bouquet to honor her loved ones.

A Magical First Look

Before the ceremony, Marley made her way to meet Alex in the rose garden for a ‘first look’—a private moment where couples often exchange heartfelt letters or meaningful gifts. For Marley and Alex, it was the perfect way to share in the excitement together before the big “I do.”

Marley looked radiant in her A-line gown, adorned with delicate lace details that flowed beautifully through her fairytale skirt. Alex, dashing in his three-piece suit, complemented the floral theme with an embroidered tie and a waistcoat featuring emerald tartan accents.

A Whimsical Woodland Ceremony

The ceremony took place in our enchanting woodland gardens, surrounded by lush greenery and pastel blooms. Marley made her grand entrance, walking down a lantern-lit aisle as their harpist played a special rendition of the Lord of the Rings theme.

Eagerly awaiting his bride, Alex stood at the center of the Turntable, beneath a stunning moongate arch. Nestled among towering trees and twinkling lights, the arch served as a breathtaking focal point.

The woodland setting, paired beautifully with the wedding party’s emerald green attire. The bridesmaids wore detailed halterneck gowns, while the groomsmen looked sharp in three-piece suits with matching ties.

Also included in the wedding party were some very special guests of honor: Marley’s maternal grandparents who served as ‘flower grandparents’ (so cute!) and Marley and Alex’s childhood plushies, who inspired their signature drinks and wedding cake toppers!

"Mine is a bunny named Honey Bunny from my paternal grandparents (who have since passed) and Alex’s is a St. Bernard named Gummy from his parents. The plushies, wearing their very own flower crown and bowtie, were walked down the aisle with our mothers and had their own photoshoot."

Drinks and Sweet Treats in the Sun

After tearful “I dos,” the newlyweds and their guests followed the lantern-lit path back through the woods to The Platform Bar and Terrace. Once the place where passengers awaited their train back to Dublin, this serene outdoor patio now offers the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny day with drinks, ice cream, and live music.

Relaxing with a sparkling drink in hand, Marley showcased her fun bridal personality with chic heart-shaped sunglasses and personalized Converse sneakers!

A Rustic and Elegant Reception

As the sun gently dipped below the trees, guests made their way to The Carriage Suite for dinner and dancing. With its stunning garden-themed ceiling and eucalyptus-framed windows, the historic suite provided the perfect backdrop for their rustic yet elegant celebration. Marley and Alex added a fun and personal touch to the table names and seating charts, featuring hand-drawn illustrations of their beloved pets: cats Molly, Mino, Cali, Sooty, Phoebe, and dogs Minnie, Buster, Joey, and Ruby.

The wedding cake was nothing short of a showstopper—a chic naked cake adorned with fresh blooms and crowned with the most adorable cake topper: miniature versions of their beloved childhood plushies, Honey Bunny and Gummy!

A Sparkler Send-Off Under the Stars

After their first dance as husband and wife to one of their favorite Korean songs, No Makeup by Zion.T, Marley and Alex stepped outside beneath a canopy of starry skies. As their loved ones held sparklers over their heads, they walked through the tunnel of fireworks—a picture-perfect ending to a truly enchanting day!

Marley and Alex's Words of Wisdom

There is a lot to consider when planning your wedding day! For Marley and Alex, the key was discovering their aesthetic—a vision that fell into place as soon as they toured their dream venue.

"The Station House Hotel matched our aesthetic before we even knew what our aesthetic was, we both just knew we loved it. We happened to get some artwork from an Etsy artist around this time using colours we liked and she gave us a mood board of sorts. We gave this to our wedding florist and from there, the rest just came together. Lots of searching on Instagram and Etsy helped too!""
