The Ultimate Honeymooners Guide to Abu Dhabi

Why Honeymoon in Abu Dhabi?

While Dubai often steals the spotlight, its quieter sister city, Abu Dhabi, is the secret jewel of the UAE. Offering just as much but with a more relaxed pace- it’s the perfect destination for a romantic escape. Imagine strolling along white sandy beaches, swimming in crystal-clear waters, exploring vast desert landscapes, visiting world-class museums, and even riding the world’s fastest roller coaster!

The Station House Hotel’s director, Suzanne Slattery, recently shared her best travel tips for Abu Dhabi in an exclusive interview with Gloss magazine. Having lived and traveled extensively across the Middle East, she offers insider advice for planning the ultimate honeymoon. Her top tip? Visit between October and April to enjoy the stunning sights in cooler weather.

With Suzanne’s expert recommendations, we’ve put together a guide to help you uncover the very best of Abu Dhabi for your perfect honeymoon!

1. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

If you’re going to post just one show-stopping photo from your honeymoon, take it here. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque isn’t just one of the largest mosques in the world; it’s a masterpiece of craftsmanship with 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, 24-karat-gold chandeliers, and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet! Built under the vision of the UAE’s founder, Sheikh Zayed, this mosque spans an area the size of four football fields—and every inch is breathtaking.

Suzanne’s Top Tip: Plan your visit during sunset or sunrise for a stunning backdrop, and head to Abu Dhabi Memorial Park for a gorgeous view of the mosque glittering in the water’s reflection. Get the details here!

2. Qasr Al Watan

Qasr Al Watan, or the Palace of the Nation, is a beloved cultural landmark. This active presidential palace offers visitors a glimpse into the UAE’s rich heritage, values, and traditions. With intricate mosaics, grand halls, and lush gardens, it’s easy to see why the palace is a favored backdrop for official state visits. Inside, you’ll find the impressive House of Knowledge, home to rare treasures like ancient manuscripts and calligraphy, and for bookworms—a library with over 50,000 books!

Suzanne’s Top Tip: Stick around for the evening light and sound show, highlighting the UAE’s rich history. More information here!

3. Louvre Abu Dhabi

For the art-loving couple, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is a dream date spot! Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the museum is an architectural marvel. Its iconic silvery dome, comprised of 7,850 stars, creates a “rain of light” as the sun passes over. Imagine strolling hand-in-hand with your sweetheart, with soft light dancing around you and some of the world’s most incredible art at every turn. From ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, there’s something special to see in every corner. And for those who appreciate a good photo op, the museum’s architecture alone is worth a million pictures!

Suzanne’s Top Tip: End your day with a sunset drink at the Art Lounge on the rooftop, where you’ll get gorgeous views of the Abu Dhabi skyline and the Arabian Gulf. Talk about a picture-perfect way to toast to your future! Find out more here!
